What is the Sunday Service like?
Join us for Sunday Church Service at 11:00 AM. You will experience a meaningful and uplifting time of worship and connection with Jesus at the heart of each service. We blend traditional worship styles and music with creativity and contemporary songs. Each service is warm and personable with ways to connect personally. Many enjoy the feeling of home that they find here. We conclude our hour of worship with a sending forth song to inspire and encourage all to go out and make Disciples for Jesus Christ!

What is available for children?
A special time is set aside during the service for story time with Pastor Edwin. Stories that are reflective of the day's message, focus on three friends: Jeffery, Jamal and Janet. At the end of each story time, the children have an opportunity to choose a small stuffed animal that are "friends who need a good home that we take home to set a good example for them by not fussing or fighting, by being good and saying our prayers before bedtime and mealtimes, reading them Bible stories everyday, and by bringing them back next week to share with someone else!" Each child also receives a weekly Bible based storybook to take home and read during the week to their new friends!
Are there nursery services available?
Yes! Our nursery is staffed starting immediately after the children's story time. The children are escorted by our nursery leaders to the nursery. Parents also are welcome to bring their child(ren) to the nursery at the same time. We do request that children be picked up in the nursery after service by their parent or caregiver. In addition, we have a quiet room if you need a calming and private place to take your little one during service. This is a great cry room or nursing room.
What should I wear?
At Nelson UMC, you'll see everything from dresses and collared shirts to T-shirts, jeans and shorts. Wear what makes you feel comfortable - you're among family here!
What about Communion?
We have Communion the first Sunday of the month and on special occasions such as Easter and Christmas Eve. All are welcome at the table. The broken bread is handed to each person who can then dip it into a challis of juice (the "blood of Jesus"). You are invited to pause at the Altar after receiving communion if you feel so moved.
What if I have a prayer request?
Each week we prayer for individuals or situations that are written in our Prayer Book. This book is located on a table immediately to the left upon entering the main front door of the church. Entries can be made up to the start of service. During a special prayer time in the service, we will pray for those names or situations on the prayer list.

What do you offer for those with special needs?
We have abundant handicap parking next to the church entry. We have a wheelchair available for anyone who needs that assistance. We also have hearing assist devices available to use during our services (located in a basket in the front of the church). Handicap accessible restrooms are located in the rear hall between the sanctuary and social hall. In addition to the printed bulletin, we display words to songs and scriptures on a large screen to make it easier to follow along. If you need assistance, just ask! We are happy to accommodate your needs!
